My Amateur Translation of Yasna 47 of the Holy Gathas attributed to Zarathushtra Spitama (alayhi salam)

Note: Unlike the other Yasnas I translated, this one is not necessarily in harmony with Islam. The word I translated as "root" is "pata" and likely had the original, literal meaning of "father", as it is translated in most translations.

YASNA XLVII

1. Through Spenta Mainyu and Vahishta-mana,
With Asha in words and works,
To us is granted Haurvetat and Ameretat
By the Kshathra of Mazda and the Armaiti of Ahura

2. Through this Spenta Mainyu, the Vahishta:
Through the tongue, the words of Vohu-mana,
By the hands, deeds done with Armaiti,
One wisdom: He, Mazda, is the root of Asha.

3. This Mainyu, Thou art its Spenta,
Who for us this beautiful world did create,
And these meadows of tranquility of Armaiti,
For, O Mazda, having communed with Vohu-mana.

4. By this Mainyu, tormented are the wicked,
Spenta through Mazda, but not the pious,
Whether a man's possessions be little or great,
Let there be generosity for the pious, evil unto the corrupt.

5. Through Spenta Mainyu, by Mazda Ahura,
The pious are granted that which is indeed Vahishta.
Far from Thy love the wicked has his portion,
For his deeds dwelling with the evil spirit.

6. Thus givest Thou through Spenta Mainyu, O Mazda Ahura,
Through the good fire, the judgment for the contenders,
With the greatness of Armaiti and Asha,
Verily the multitudinous seekers shall be taught!

MORE FAMILIARIZED VERSION:

1. Through the Holiest Spirit and Best Mind,
To one with Asha in words and works,
is granted Perfection and Immortality
By the Kshathra of Mazda and the Armaiti of Ahura

2. Through this Holiest Spirit is the Best achieved:
Through the tongue, the words of Good Mind,
By the hands, deeds done with Armaiti,
And this knowledge: that He, Mazda, is the root of Asha.

3. Thou, O Ahura Mazda, art the Holiness of this Spirit,
Thou who created this beautiful world for us,
As well as these meadows of tranquility through Armaiti,
On account of our having communed with Good Mind, O Mazda.

4. By this Spirit, Holy through Mazda,
The wicked are tormented, but not the pious.
Whether a man's possessions be little or great,
Let there be generosity for the pious, evil unto the corrupt.

5. Mazda Ahura, through the Holiest Spirit,
grants to the pious that which is indeed the Best,
And the wicked has his portion far from Thy love,
dwelling in the abode of the evil spirit for his deeds.

6. Thus givest Thou the judgment of the contenders
through the Holiest Spirit, O Mazda Ahura, and through the good fire,
And with the greatness of Armaiti and Asha,
Verily the multitudinous seekers shall be taught!
